Recommendations for Preservation of the Governor Ross Mansion
Barton Ross, (AIA, AICP, LEED, AP BD+C) is a preservation architect and city planner who has contributed to master plans for the Virginia State Capitol, the United States Capitol, the World Trade Center and Princeton University. Mr. Ross has been recognized for his dedication to historic preservation by the National Park Service, the Secretary of the Interior, the Vernacular Architecture Forum and the Society of Architectural Historians.
In 2023, Mr. Ross (no relation to Governor Ross) was hired by the Seaford Historical Society to conduct a thorough evaluation of the Governor Ross Mansion to determine its current condition and make prioritized recommendations for its preservation and continuing restoration. This presentation will be a summary of his report to the society’s board of trustees.
